Takko is a leading value fashion retailer, offering customers fashionable and high-quality clothing at attractive prices from nearly 1,600 stores in Germany and Central and Eastern Europe.
The successful transformation of Takko from a hard discount retailer into one of Europe’s leading value fashion brands involved developing all aspects of its business model – strategy, brand, product range, pricing, inventory management and one of the most comprehensive store modernisation programmes in the history of German retail; as part of this program more than 1200 Takko stores were modernized within 9 months.
Takko’s transformation process during Advent’s ownership was further accompanied by the Company’s continued expansion through the opening of nearly 500 new stores across Germany and Central and Eastern Europe. In 2010 Takko launched a new “1982” urban store concept to expand its customer base in new locations.
Despite the difficult economic climate Takko increased revenues by 30% between 2007 and 2010. With its strong brand, international presence, integrated business model and a promising new retail concept, Takko is well-positioned in the rapidly growing value fashion market. In February 2011 Advent sold Takko to Apax Partners.
