In 1994, we invested in Esaote Biomedica, then Europe's largest and now one of the world's leading manufacturers and distributors of diagnostic imaging equipment employing ultrasound and MRI technologies.
Formerly a state-owned business, deregulation had created the opportunity for the business to become independent. With the clear objectives of exploiting its proprietary technology and patenting unique products, Esaote was keen to expand its European operations and establish an international network.
Post our investment, we helped the company realise its strategy by assisting in the negotiation of strategic alliances with Hitachi and international biomedical group, Bracco.
By leveraging our global network of offices, we also drove expansion through new subsidiaries, joint ventures and distribution agreements across Europe, North America and Asia. In 1996, Esaote floated on the Milan Stock Exchange (ESA/IM).
